Aristocrat Interactive will be shutting down its operations in Malta and exiting the white-label iGaming business, which will leave approximately 120 employees without jobs.
According to a post on LinkedIn by Ambra Battiston, AML Manager, the office will officially close at the end of June.
This will be the last remaining operations formerly conducted by Aspire Global prior to Aristocrat Interactive’s acquisition of Aspire. Now that Aspire has been fully absorbed into Aristocrat, this closure also indicates that Aristocrat will no longer be operating in the white-label segment of the market.
Aristocrat Interactive stated:
As a result of this decision, a number of roles across our global team have been impacted. We are committed to working with employees whose role are impacted.
Aristocrat Interactive has also confirmed to Readwrite that they are closing their office in Malta as part of a larger strategy to exit from the white-label iGaming segment altogether.
Aristocrat determined that providing white-label services was not a key component of their overall growth strategy and they will focus on higher-growth opportunities and bring employees closer to their headquarters and main operations.
Malta has been a destination for white-label operators due to the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) licensing process. However, Aristocrat’s exit from Malta signifies another example of the white label i-gaming industry’s consolidation trend as additional operators have started transitioning to their own proprietary platforms and core markets.
