In the month of March, law enforcement agencies in the Western Visayas Region stepped up their anti-illegal gambling efforts, arresting 221 individuals through 93 operations throughout the region.
Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) also reported confiscation of PHP 142,052.75 in wager money during these operations.
From March 1 to 31, 2026, police operations directed at illegal gambling resulted in an average of more than seven arrests daily (221 total) and the seizure of wagered funds totaling more than PHP142,000.
PRO-6 stated that these operations were conducted continuously and cohesively by units across several jurisdictions.
Iloilo City Police Office had the highest number of operations, at 38. The Iloilo Province Police Office was second with 23 operations, making both units principal contributors to the March effort.
PRO-6 stated that ongoing operations are part of the overall effort to reduce illegal gambling. Authorities have noted that illegal gambling is often associated with other types of crime, leading to the continuous need for enforcement.
Authorities have made over 200 arrests and performed nearly 100 operations in a one-month period, indicating that they will continue to put pressure on illegal gambling activities.
